MACHU PICCHU.

Last Friday we went to Machu Picchu, probably the biggest trip/excursion on this trip. Machu Picchu is currently one of the new 7 wonders of the world... for good reason. I am going to venture and say that Machu Picchu is the most incredible place I've ever seen in my life. The Andes surrounding and Machu Picchu itself, are breathtaking.

(This post is so inadequate for the trip I took these past few days... as are the vain attempts at photographing something so beautiful.)

It is when you stand in the immensity of mountains or when you stand at the edge of the ocean or you fly above a broad scope of land that you realize how small you are. Looking at Machu Picchu you realize the length of time and how intricately and enduringly people worked to create such an incredible place. It makes you feel so small... and yet makes you realize how great the ineffable God is. Beauty often causes me to worship and acknowledge my Savior... and I teared up many times this past weekend at how small and seemingly unimportant I feel sometimes, but in contrast, how much the Lord loves me and cares for me... and you.

I am so grateful for this experience... sometimes I forget how blessed I am. Blessed to be living in a place I love so much. Blessed to have family and friends who love me and who I love. Blessed to be able to know the Savior of this world and to be known by Him.

Machu Picchu is incredible... I highly recommend it to everyone. Though such a magnificent and beautiful place can only point to the Creator of it all... and how incredible He is.

The last picture in your post made me chuckle. If you take a quick glance at it, it looks like you are standing next to a mini replica of machu picchu. The pictures are GORGEOUS...i can't imagine how awe inspiring it was. I hope things are going well in peru. Have you eaten any guinea pig yet?!?!

first let me say - gag - on Jake's comment about guinea pig. It made me shiver - if you do eat it don't tell me.

2nd, the pictures are beautiful, but your blog is inspiring. I feel like I need to visit there just to experience the awesomeness of God that one must feel by witnessing something so indescribable. I'm sooo glad you had this experience.
